Basalt Relief builds a dense cascade of jagged, angular forms in deep charcoal black and dark slate grey, with glimpses of volcanic brown catching the light along each broken edge. The surface is worked in heavy impasto, its ridges and fractures genuinely raised from the canvas, so the piece reads like a fragment of cooled rock seen up close. In the upper corner the texture softens into a smoother, quieter passage, giving the whole composition a grounded, meditative weight.
This is a striking choice for a hallway or above a sofa in a contemporary living room, where its tactile surface and dramatic diagonal movement reward a closer look. As with all our abstract wall art, it is hand-painted to order by our artists, available as a rolled canvas or framed, and offered in a choice of sizes.
