Frames
Every painting comes rolled, or framed in one of six handcrafted floating frames.
Rolled or framed
Every painting comes rolled, or framed in one of six handcrafted floating frames: black, antique gold, white, dark grey, oak and walnut.
A floating frame is a slim wooden surround made for stretched canvas. The canvas sits inside it with a narrow shadow gap all the way round, so nothing covers the painted edges and the picture appears to float. Each frame is cut to the size of your canvas.
Painted finish
Black
Smooth painted black on a slim face. The most versatile of the six: it sharpens bright colour, gives monochrome a crisp edge and looks at home on white, grey or deep-coloured walls.
- Face width: 14 mm
- Depth: 34 mm
- Material and finish: wooden moulding, smooth painted black
- Style: floating (tray) frame, with a slim shadow gap between the canvas and the frame
- Made to measure for every canvas size we sell

The statement frame. An antique gold face with aged, mottled sides gives still lifes, florals and classic scenes a timeless, collected look.

Painted finish

Clean, bright and quietly modern. White lets pale, coastal and soft-toned paintings breathe, and keeps a light room feeling fresh.

Dark grey
A softer alternative to black. The deep painted grey frames moody landscapes, abstracts and monochrome pieces without the hard contrast, and sits beautifully on warm or cool walls.

- Material and finish: wooden moulding, painted dark grey
- Style: floating (tray) frame, with a slim shadow gap between the canvas and the frame
- Made to measure for every canvas size we sell

Real wood veneer
Oak
Warm and light. A real oak veneer with visible grain that brings out earthy and golden tones, and suits Scandi, rustic and neutral interiors. Because the grain is real, no two frames are quite the same.
- Face width: 10 mm
- Depth: 32 mm
- Material and finish: wooden moulding with a real oak veneer, natural grain
- Style: floating (tray) frame, with a slim shadow gap between the canvas and the frame
- Made to measure for every canvas size we sell

Real wood veneer
Walnut
A richer, darker wood. Real walnut veneer with a natural grain that flatters warm colour and florals, and feels right in mid-century and traditional rooms. Every frame's grain is its own.
- Face width: 10 mm

- Material and finish: wooden moulding with a real walnut veneer, natural grain
- Style: floating (tray) frame, with a slim shadow gap between the canvas and the frame

Rolled or framed?
-
Framed canvas
Stretched, fitted into the floating frame you choose and ready to hang when it arrives. The frame protects the edges and gives the painting a finished look straight away.
-
Rolled canvas (no frame)
The painting on its own, unframed and rolled in a tube. Lighter to send, and a good choice if you would like a framer near you to finish it or already have a frame in mind. It will need stretching before it goes on the wall.
Made properly
-
Made to measure
Each frame is cut to the exact size of your canvas, whether that is one of our standard sizes or a bespoke one.
-
Slim and deep
Faces from 10 to 14 mm keep the look minimal, while the depth holds a stretched canvas neatly inside the frame.
-
Painted, veneered or gilded
Black, white and dark grey are smooth painted finishes; antique gold has a gilt-effect face with mottled sides; oak and walnut are real wood veneers with a natural grain.
-
Arrives framed
Your canvas is fitted into its frame before it leaves us, so it arrives assembled and ready for the wall.
Caring for your framed canvas
-
Dust gently
A soft, dry cloth or a feather duster over the frame and the canvas is all it needs. No sprays or damp cloths on the painted surface.
-
Keep it out of direct sun
Strong sunlight will fade any artwork over the years. A wall that gets indirect light will keep the colours true.
-
Avoid steam and damp
Canvas and wood both prefer a steady room. Hang it away from a shower, a hob or a radiator.

Frame questions
How do I choose a frame?
On each painting's page, pick your size, then choose Rolled or one of the six frames from the options.
Can I see the painting in each frame before I buy?
Many product pages show the painting framed so you can compare finishes, and we are adding pictures of every frame. If the one you like is not shown yet, message us and we will send you a mock-up.
Do the frames cover any of the painting?
No. A floating frame sits around the canvas with a narrow gap, so the whole painted surface, including the edges, stays visible.
Does a framed canvas arrive ready to hang?
Yes. The canvas is stretched and fitted into its frame before it is sent, so it arrives assembled. Hang it from a picture hook or two, as you would any framed picture.
Can you frame a bespoke size?
Yes. Frames are cut to measure, so any size we paint can be framed in any of the six finishes. Ask us about a bespoke size and we will include the frame in your quote.
I would like a different frame or colour. Is that possible?
Often, yes. Message us on WhatsApp with the painting and the look you are after and we will tell you what we can do.
