Knife-Cut Highlands captures a wild stretch of mountain country, where a pale river cuts a diagonal path from the foreground right up to a glowing horizon. Thick palette-knife strokes build the hills into tiered ridges of deep teal, charcoal and slate grey, broken by warm taupe and a single streak of ochre catching the light. There's a bracing, elemental mood to it, as though the weather might turn at any moment.
This would suit a living room wall above a sofa or sideboard, where its texture and tonal depth can be appreciated from across the room, and it also works well in a hallway with good natural light. Each piece is hand-painted to order by our artists, available as a rolled canvas or framed canvas art, in a choice of sizes.
